Usain Bolt Didn’t Win The 100m Race in 9.58 Seconds!

I would sound absurd claiming that the fastest man living on earth, Usain Bolt from Jamaica, DID NOT set the fastest world record by winning a 100 meter race in 9.58 seconds in 2009, but unfortunately that’s the truth. He didn’t win but rather completed the race in 9.58 seconds.

“What is this guy talking about?” you might be wondering, but that’s the whole point. We often mistook that, for example, Usain Bolt won the 100m race in 9.58 seconds, completely ignoring his extraordinary routine and discipline that he has been holding for since so many years. He must have been doing it for years, might have hit even better time record than 9.58 seconds but how would we know? It is only when we came to know when he actually did it in front of the whole world, in the Beijing Olympics in 2009. A dream that he started to carry since when he was 12 and accomplished it in 2009 when he was 23, completely ignoring his abnormally disciplined drills to keep only the ups, leaving all the downs behind.

The point here I want to make is that we often see big stars achieving something but rarely try to read and research about their lives and struggle to get such reward, name and recognition. Did you know why Thomas Edison failed 1,000 times in an experiment? Because 1001st was a light bulb! Why did Mark Zuckerberg gave up his studies at Harvard? Because he knew he won’t be doing justice with his degree and he would be working on something far more worthy than it.

It wasn’t normal that when Colombian rising striker James Rodriguez was signed by Real Madrid, on the first day he went off to the training camp 2 hours earlier to impress the coach. When he reached, he saw Cristiano Ronaldo already training there.

When we believe something is worthy enough to achieve, we usually don’t really consider its possible costs and risks. All we want to have is a prepared basket of fame, finding it out on our door steps. Keep in mind, great things only happen when you’re out of your comfort zone. No famous personality has ever earned a true respect and fame without any costs, hard work, patience, consistency and discipline.

Having a mentality believing enough to achieve something is the first part and achievement itself. But actually acting upon an identified road is another big thing in totality. It is all about dedication and ability to clearly visualizing yourself holding what you want to hold, standing where you want to stand and feeling what you want to feel.

Never let the visuals of yourself in 10 years get blurred out even for a single day. Because remember, life doesn’t give you what you want. It gives you what you deserve.

Happy hunting,

Cheers!
